Episode 4

Hello, everyone. Welcome back. This is Mariana Thomas, your host. Today, I'm going to talk to you about purpose. This is a short one, guys. So let's get to it.

Mariana - 00:41

Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode number four, I am super thankful that you are here with me, again. Just to remind you to go back to episode number one, two, and three so you can get to know more about me. If you don't know me a little bit, so go back to Episode One, two, and three. And you will get to know a little bit more about my journey about who I am, and more about this podcast okay.

So today, we are going to talk about defining your purpose. This is a topic that is very, very important. Because it is our unique reason in life, your unique reason in life because we can’t copy someone else's purpose. It won't work, we can’t copy and paste it and then do it. It will be fake. So it's very important to remember that we are unique in our own way and that we all come with that thing that no one else has, the no one else can deliver but you and I. I have my own way, you have your own way. But let's remember that, while you and I may have many seasons or many callings in our life - Your life and my life only has one purpose, and that purpose unifies in life. So what I want to say there, and what that means is that even though we can travel many times, we have gone to many places, we have one purpose. Your purpose is the reason or reasons. You and I believe we will create it. That's why we are here in this world. That's why we believe we are here, we came here for a reason or reasons. That equals our purpose.

I heard someone say that “purpose is passion in action”. And I totally agree with that. So all those reasons and actions that you and I have taken throughout our lives, all those opportunities that we have taken, that we have said yes to, those together unify our purpose, your purpose. So let me give you an example. Growing up in Colombia at the age of 16 - and you will hear more when you go back to Episode one, two, and three. At the age of 16. I had this feeling and this thing in my heart that I wanted to be into fitness and health. I just… no one told me. I didn't see anyone in my family going to the gym. But I did. I had a second reason - and you will hear that in Episode one, two, and three. But, also I had this calling that I wanted to move my body I don't know why but I did. So I started my journey in health and fitness at the age of 16. And even though I went to college for Human Resources, I was still passionate about moving my body. So I joined the basketball team, the volleyball team, anything where I could move my body, where I could feel that mentally and physically fit or healthy. I think it helped a lot with my education - made me more alert and all those benefits that we later will talk about here in this episode, not in this episode, and later on other podcasts, the benefits of why we're moving our bodies.

But now I understand WHY. Even though I had traveled so many times, and in so many ways, I have always ended in movement, and mindfulness, and self-development, from the inside-out. When I moved to the United States, the same thing. Even though I got a job at a corporate company, the same thing, it was about movement, it was about health and wellness. And let me tell you something when I have said yes to things that don't align with my purpose, I have not felt the same way. My heart, my mind, my body don’t feel the same way. Then when I am living in my purpose. So yes, I say yes to other things. But quickly, I have to say, No, and leave. Because it’s not your purpose it’s not your calling, it’s not where you feel the most alive. Where you feel that you are giving your everything, that you are giving your heart, that you are giving who you are so you can transform life. Because when you are in your purpose, when you are giving who you are, who you truly are - that's when you can inform others. So we always had to pay attention to that. So that's why it's so important to define our purpose.

So let me ask you this: Have you ever thought about your life? You've had a recollection of events? The recollection of seasons, callings. When do you say yes? When do you say no? When did your heart think? Where did your heart cry? Where? Where did your heart feel like "I don't want to be here"? I have been there my friends. Let me tell you, I had been there where I had to say yes to something. But I'm not supposed to be there. Not because it was wrong, but because it was not my calling. So the word that we need to do and I'm gonna leave you with this… is think about the journey of your life. The callings that you have said yes. That thing that you will do for free if you could. And I had done my calling many times for free. And even when people don't say thank you, after you have given it, you still in your heart feel that reward. You still feel happiness. You still feel joy. Because you just gave your purpose. You just gave what you were created to be here for. And that, my friend, has no price. No price. That thing that you will give for free that even when people don't tell you, “thank you”, that is your purpose, that is your calling.

So do the homework, go back, sit down. Recollect from your childhood to now: What is that thing that always comes around? What is that thing that you always feel alive when you do it? That is that thing that you will call “that is my purpose” and that thing that I will do for free - I'm not asking you to do it for free, but you could. My friends, that is why we have to define our purpose. We do not want to leave this planet without feeling that thing called our PURPOSE. And with that my friends, I'm gonna leave you.
